Just saw an ad on TV for Jeep Liberty, Wrangler etc. and a great low rate... from GMAC. They would finance, low down, low payments, etc. But GMAC is the finance arm of General Motors, and of course they only make offers on GM cars. Except plainly this was not that. Considering I had just seen a spot on recognizing the signs of stroke, I was concerned. Then I recalled the GMAC spin off in the big GM meltdown. They are their own bank now, so they can finance any company they please. Including the competitors of their former owners. No problem, its just business. They officially changed their name last year, and I didn't think they were still advertising as GMAC. I believe they are now majority owned by the US Government. - Steve G From jazz at qnet.com Mon Aug 16 21:56:15 2010 From: jazz at qnet.com (Bill Taylor) Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2010 19:56:15 -0700 Subject: [Goglog] For just a moment there In-Reply-To: <08001A695155451E9DA95042671B8847@StevePC> References: <201008151606.o7FG6n74020862@mail.zarquon.net> <08001A695155451E9DA95042671B8847@StevePC> Message-ID: <201008170259.o7H2wwxC004593@mail.zarquon.net> At 18:52 8/16/2010 -0500, Steve Gruenwald wrote: >Bill Taylor says: > > > I thought that GM had bought up Jeep! The GMAC was in the fine print at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise I would have been oblivious. Maybe the US Govt is trying to leverage one asset to help itself out of a hole. If GMAC turns a big profit, they can buy the USG out. Bill Taylor
